Volkswagen Golf – Time to Go Green
by admin
The Gold from Volkswagen; let’s just have a very brief recap. This is a vehicle that has almost singlehandedly catapulted the brand of VW to the heights that is has reached today. Of course there are many other models that have contributed to this such as the used Volkswagen Lupo, Scirocco and the Tiguan etc, but the flagship unit of the company is very much recognised as the main entity. And so it should come as no surprise to hear that the Golf is due to go under the knife and become an all-electric car which should be available some time in 2013. Now this may seem quite a way away yet considering that many other manufacturers are already rolling out their electric units, but it seems that Volkswagen are a little bit behind and / or waiting to make things perfect. After all, it would be quite the travesty if VW were to introduce an inadequate version of a model that has long been the centre of attention for the brand. And so we wait... Reports suggest that the electric Golf will house a 113 BHP power unit that will produce 270 Nm of torque, which will enable the vehicle to achieve up to 87 miles before a recharge is required (which will subsequently take six hours to complete 100%). However, this charging time is expected to be decreased with the introduction of a new charger that is also expected and so no doubt this will be a welcomed addition. One major advantage of this power unit is that it is apparently one of the quietest around, which is always a bonus!
Vauxhall Meriva Electric – Following the Trend
by admin
It seems that everywhere we turn these days there is some kind of electric or hybrid vehicle being promoted and marketed. One of the latest in this area is the Vauxhall Meriva, which is currently in the test only stages. A battery powered MPV, an MPV that has delivered a fantastic driving performance ever since it was first introduced to the market many years ago; well this is certainly going to be interesting. Practicality and charisma is what is normally associated with the used Vauxhall Meriva and it would seem that even the electric version of the vehicle will indeed provide the same attributes. The Meriva is a no nonsense unit and has no hairs and graces; it is plain and simple but extremely effective at what it does. Nonetheless it is a Vauxhall unit that will almost certainly attract the attention of many MPV enthusiasts when it is eventually released to the market. However, far from being a small vehicle, the question is whether or not it will provide the necessary power and grit to be a worthy successor of the original fuel version? Of course this is another topic for debate that will no doubt rage on for many years like the petrol v diesel discussion. However, Vauxhall are certainly a company that is at the forefront of new technologies and so one would have to hazard a guess that they are indeed capable of delivering a worthy contender that will continue the successful trend of the popular Vauxhall Meriva model.
Porsche 911 Speedster – The Return of a Legend
by admin
It is plain to see that the used Porsche 911 has become the ultimate vehicle for the brand and has garnered its fair share of attention since it was first introduced to the market. And now it seems that Porsche enthusiasts have been given yet another special treat as the 911 Speedster is now on the horizon. With naturally striking looks, the Speedster will be available for purchase across the globe although only 356 are expected to be manufactured. Of course this number is in relation to the 356 Speedster model from the year 1953. So it seems that 2010 is the year of the soft top Porsche – given the fact that the Boxster Spyder has been introduced. And why not because too many people the soft top element of a sports car is what creates the sporty character and style; therefore, it appears that Porsche are indeed listening to the demands of the masses, hence the 911 Speedster. With its engine depositing a monumental 408 BHP and a Carrera 4 outer shell body, the Speedster is well on its way to becoming a firm fans’ favourite. Porsche have suggested that this new model will be made available towards the beginning of 2011 (January) and it will definitely cost a pretty penny. Early reports suggest that buyers will need to fork out just short of £145,000, which will almost certainly mean that only those select few will be able to afford it. Nonetheless, with only 356 being up for grabs, the Speedster will make for a unique purchase for unique customers – so things fit in just nicely!
SEAT Ibiza SC – Better than the Standard Version
by admin
The Ibiza from SEAT has been a true and honourable flagship vehicle for a company that has had its fair share of ups and downs. The older used SEAT Ibiza of years gone by was responsible for putting the name of SEAT firmly on the map as it battled alongside many other competitors in the industry. However, with the popularity of the Ibiza growing at such rapid rates, SEAT managed to control their own, albeit respectful, section of the market. Recently though the Ibiza SC was released that provides many additional benefits to the regular Ibiza model. It comes with a much bolder design and street-wise look and feel that is combined with the true spirit of SEAT and its “auto emocion” slogan. Like with the original Ibiza, the SC comes with some of the most cutting edge technologies, which SEAT have no become universally famous for including in their vehicle. Offering a real sporty feeling, the new SEAT Ibiza SC looks like it is going to go on and be a true classic. Many believe that it will also act as a true style setter for future car designs as it very much provides an insight into the future. SEAT say that the Ibiza SC offer drivers the opportunity to display their style on the road through their vehicle and with customisable options readily available, this certainly looks like being the case. The details in the design are truly brilliant and it is a car that gives a sense of achievement each time you step behind the wheel.
Porsche Boxster – Combining Years of History
by admin
For so long the used Porsche 911 dominated the marketplace and if we are being honest, was the only vehicle that Porsche needed to continue its huge success. However, with time comes evolution and the 911 needed a challenger that would bring a fresh outlook for Porsche cars and the company in general. Step forward the Porsche Boxster, which is a unit that has all the history of a Porsche vehicle, with all the demand and design of the present sports vehicle. It is visually appealing and also provides a true and fulfilling performance that is so evident with new and used Porsche cars. The design is somewhat different as the Boxster provides more of a dynamic look than its predecessors. Nonetheless, this is a very powerful design that gives its own aura of a vehicle that is not to be messed with. When you see this car on the road it is immediately recognised as being a Boxster and this is especially the case in the evening or night time due to the halogen headlights that are fitted. With the standard version coming with seventeen inch alloy wheels and the S version equipped with eighteen inch, these really do provide yet another unique element to the car. Porsche themselves are quite rightly very happy about the success of the Boxster and Boxster S vehicles and they say that both units provide a perfect combination of design and functionality, which is definitely an accurate statement.
Peugeot RCZ – The All New Peugeot
by admin
Peugeot, for ease of description, seem to have always produced cars with a similar identity. To summarise, you could say that every new or used Peugeot car could be easily recognised as being from the same production line. Now this is in no way a criticism, just an opinionated fact! And maybe Peugeot did indeed recognise this and have done something about it. The new RCZ model, which was released earlier this year, is very much an indifferent Peugeot design, which has subsequently captured the attention of a much broader audience and maybe those that would never have normally considered buying a Peugeot car? It is certainly a design that has a feeling of the future about it, which in the main is due to its exterior look and interior feel. Some may call it a risky production, but I would have to strongly disagree because I personally feel that the RCZ will go on to become an extremely popular auto in the industry. Everything from its dark, black metallic paint to the choice of alloy wheels makes this car stand out from the crowd. And the interior follows the exterior in terms of style and layout as it is very much an insight into the future of cars, which includes various high-tech equipment and features. The materials used for the dashboard are also of a good quality and provide the RCZ with a very unique and distinctive comfort that has perhaps not been present in the Peugeot cars of the past.
MINI Convertibles – The Latest Addition
by admin
Ever since BMW bought the rights to re-invent the used Mini of yesteryears, there have been a number of model additions to the new range. The MINI One was the first car to be introduced, which was followed by the MINI Cooper. An S version was then released to provide a sportier experience and since then there has been the Clubman, which acts as a five door MINI with extra space. And now there are, believe it or not, a number of convertible models that has been added to the range of MINI cars. The first is the MINI One Convertible, which has a top speed of 112 mph, acceleration rate (0 to 62 mph) of 11.3 seconds and a combined fuel consumption rate of 49.6 mpg. The Co2 emissions rates for the vehicle are 133 g/km. And the cost of the car can be purchased for less than £15,500 (brand new model). The next model is the MINI Cooper Convertible, which has a top speed of 123 mph, acceleration rate (0 to 62 mph) of 9.8 seconds and a combined fuel consumption rate of 49.6 (the same as the MINI One Convertible). The Co2 emissions rates for the vehicle are also the same as the MINI One Convertible (133 g/km). The cost of this car, however, is slightly more expensive and is currently available for less than £17,000. To complete the Convertible range is the MINI Cooper S Convertible, which has the best top speed of 140 mph, acceleration rate of just 7.3 seconds and a combined fuel consumption rate of 47.1 mpg. The Co2 emission rates for this model are slightly higher than the others, however, and calculate to 139 g/km. Naturally, the cost of the Cooper S Convertible is higher as well with an on the road price of £19,965.
Smart and More Advanced – The New Volkswagen Toureg
by admin
Advanced technological features and enhancements is what populates the all new Volkswagen Toureg, which marks very good improvements on the older used Volkswagen Toureg in the past. This time around the Toureg is also much more efficient and surprisingly lighter in weight due to the materials used. It remains stylish, powerful and as charismatic as before; but with some clear advancements that make the unit much more special. From the outside it looks visually stunning thanks to its simple, but highly effective layout and structure. And as with all new and used Volkswagen units, it delivers an outstanding performance thanks to its 3.0 litre V6 or 4.2 litre V8 engines that both provide speeds of up to 150 miles per hour. Acceleration rates are equally impressive for an SUV of this size with the top time of 0 to 60 mph being 5.8 seconds. Now considering that the weight of the Toureg has been drastically reduced, this shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise even if it is indeed quite impressive. Also, being an SUV, the effect that it will have on the economy is a natural thought but the reality is that the new Toureg isn’t all that bad when it comes to Co2 emissions. All engines are in the Euro 5 emissions class and the smallest engine produces 239 km/g (with the 3.0 litre V6 hybrid engine producing 193 km/g). So in summary, the new Toureg marks some major improvement on the used Volkswagen Toureg of old and is definitely a worthy choice from the SUV market sector.
Vauxhall’s Astra Estate – Bringing the Love Back into Driving
by admin
For many years it has been the Vauxhall Astra Hatchback that has been the envy of many manufacturers and the favourite of Vauxhall enthusiasts. Of course the Astra is a sports vehicle and so the Hatchback is perhaps the most suitable and relevant trim. Nonetheless, Vauxhall saw it worthy of also becoming an Estate and the new version is a true work of art. Reasonably priced, this new style provides its own unique take on the Astra and provides a combination of versatility, practicality and elegance. Being an Estate the Astra provides additional space that was seemingly less on the Hatchback version. But this is not the only additional / improvement that has been made. In fact, the new Estate comes with a variety of excellent features such as ABS, body coloured door mirrors, electronic engine immobiliser, retractable luggage compartment cover and a large display panel. On certain trims, air conditioning is also available as is roof rails for storage and the transportation of goods. With a choice of up to 10 engines available, buyers are certainly given a good choice; with each providing a suitable option for different styles of drivers and their requirements. This therefore means that most types of buyers are taken care of and is another one of the many reasons why purchasing a new or even a used Vauxhall Astra Estate could prove to be a good choice. A five door family Estate from Vauxhall for less than £17,200 – surely it is worth a punt?!
The Maserati MC Sport Line – An Unbelievable Auto
by admin
With its dark, crisp and eccentric black alloys along with a roofline and bonnet that is to die for, the Maserati MC Sport Line is a vehicle that should be loved and embraced. Not often are car enthusiasts treated to such a world class auto and so when the time comes, us as automotive people, should be happy with what is on display. The Maserati MC Sport Line seems to be quite the machine and it is fair to say that improvements have definitely been made when comparing against other used Maserati cars from years gone by. Maserati seem to have taken on a much more aggressive style, which is immediately apparent when looking at the car. It could be said that the MC Sport Line emphasises the real sporting nature of a Maserati vehicle as it combines a sports vehicle with some serious technological advancements; both of which equate to an exciting and desired driving experience. It comes as no surprise to hear that the Maserati MC Sport Line was created alongside the engineers who also work with the Maserati racing circuit cars, and the evidence is there for all to see. One element of the vehicle that has certainly retained any notion of a racing car is the materials used for the components; they are all made of carbon fibre, which makes the unit light on its wheels and is something that is ideal for racing / sports performance. Maserati’s slogan of “Excellence through passion” is something very pertinent to the spirit and charisma of the MC Sport Line model. Trying to find some kind of negative about the vehicle is impossible. The only thing one could say is what all regular car buyers say and that is that it is just too expensive and out of reach!
