Volkswagen Golf – Time to Go Green
by admin
The Gold from Volkswagen; let’s just have a very brief recap. This is a vehicle that has almost singlehandedly catapulted the brand of VW to the heights that is has reached today. Of course there are many other models that have contributed to this such as the used Volkswagen Lupo, Scirocco and the Tiguan etc, but the flagship unit of the company is very much recognised as the main entity. And so it should come as no surprise to hear that the Golf is due to go under the knife and become an all-electric car which should be available some time in 2013. Now this may seem quite a way away yet considering that many other manufacturers are already rolling out their electric units, but it seems that Volkswagen are a little bit behind and / or waiting to make things perfect. After all, it would be quite the travesty if VW were to introduce an inadequate version of a model that has long been the centre of attention for the brand. And so we wait... Reports suggest that the electric Golf will house a 113 BHP power unit that will produce 270 Nm of torque, which will enable the vehicle to achieve up to 87 miles before a recharge is required (which will subsequently take six hours to complete 100%). However, this charging time is expected to be decreased with the introduction of a new charger that is also expected and so no doubt this will be a welcomed addition. One major advantage of this power unit is that it is apparently one of the quietest around, which is always a bonus!
